Mistress of Erotica
Reading and Writing Inspirations

I have had a great relationship with writing for the better part of my life. I have always enjoyed painting a picture with words, offering advice and writing vignettes; all while throwing in a touch of poetry from time to time.

I love a good conversation starter and what better way to have savory conversation over dinner than with a few fun topics to explore.

When I was in 5th grade, I was introduced to one of my all time favorite books. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi. I was so captivated by Charlotte Doyle's adventures on the high seas and learning about ships as well cruelty not only to men working on the ship but the cruelty to Charlotte as a young girl. The idea that girl's and women shall behave a certain way and literally to fit into a painful box forced on them by society.

I cannot imagine growing up in the Early 1800's as a “proper” girl. Nor could she once she embarked on the voyage that changed her life.

The book was so engaging and enjoyable for me that I continued and still do to this day, to re-read it whenever I am in need for a good adventure.

As luck should have it, just shy of a year later, who of all the authors in the world was coming to my school? Yep, I got to meet and have my very own autographed book by my favorite author, Avi. Only 2 students in my entire school were afforded this privileged and I was one of those. Still one of the best days of my young life!
